Coles, n commission agent, of having signed a receipt lor £2 on !)th August last without duly stamping it. Coles explained that he was an agent f or au insurance company, and 011 the date in question leceived the sum as an advance in regal d to commission to lie earned. Mr l'ullan, who appeared for him, drew "attention to the case, of Barclay and Co. v. Ivirlos at Home, where under the I nick Act it was held that commissions were wages varying in amount according to conditions, but were none the less wages under the Act. Wages were exempt from liic requirements of the ■Stamp Act, he argued, therefore, that Ins client had not transgressed the jfistNvorsliip reserved his decision.
