ALLEGED EXODUS TO AUSTRALIA controverted; Per Press Association. Thursday, figures quoted by the Intelligence Department of New South Wales that population was being attracted from New s* Zealand to Australia were { by tho Tourist Department and SUT)mit- v - t«(l to the Registrar-General for examination. The latter's statement indicates that New Zealand is really getting population from Australia. Thi flgures for the period 1001 to September of this year, show the movement of population to have been as follows:—New South Wales to New Zealand 111,084, New Zealand to New South Wales, 90,613, New Zealand thus gaining 21,171. It ]g pointed out that many people goijur to England from New Zealand takoijjtereolonial steamers for Sydney, and book there for England, having no intejitio# of staying in Australia. • Mr Von Dddel«« zen quotes the following figures for the 1 whole Commonwealth for the period 1 mentioned:—Australia tO' New Zealand 101,830, New Zealand to Australia 122140. -
