"HADFIELD" HOSTEL.

Per Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. His Excellency the Governor to-day laid the foundation-stone of the Hadlitld Hostel, at Kelburne, for male atudents at Victoria College. The hostel is a memorial to the late Bishop Hadfield, the first Anglican missionary and Bishop cf the Manawatu coast. Bishop Wallis sjoke of the life's work of Bishop Hadfield, and of the advantages of the hostel for students. His Excellency Lord Plunkct, after laying the foundation-stone, said anyone who had had experience of the training within the walls of a resldinfial college would realise what a great advantage it was. The Hon. G. Fowlds, Minister of Education, tlie Hon. C. C. Bowen, Speaker of the Legislative Council, and Archdeacon Fancourt delivered short addresses. .•
