TRADES AND LABOR COUNCIL.

Per Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night To? Trades and Labor Council this evening passed the following resolutto# at a special meeting held to consider the Arbitration Act Amendments i-« "That the Minister for Labor be requested to amend the Arbitration and Conciliation Act to provide for the mem. ber and acting-member of the Arbitration Court being elected By the unions, instead of, as at preeent, being appoint, ed on the recommendations of the unions, and that the result of the voting be published." The Council, in regard to the amended Bill, decided that it could not ace its way to depart from the previous decision expressed in a recent manifesto which was condemnatory of the measure.
