NO-LICENSE PICNIC.
Despite the threatening weather yesterday, fully three hundred people, hailing ironi ail the towns along the lia-wera-Xew Plymouth line, attended the .No-license rally and picnic at the .Ngaire Oardens yesterday. Ihe gardens looked at their best—a charming place fa) the purpose. An abundance of games and amusements was provided by the proprietary. The llawera 1 own Band was in attendance, anil, besides playing some capital selections throughout the day, supplied the accompaniments to the temperance -ongs "Sons of the Free" and "Strike tmi the Top Line." Speeches were delivered by .Messrs. C. E. Bell ringer (Provincial President), B. Bobbins, and G. I'. Wake, all the utterances being of a, hopeful nature. Excellent arrangements bad been made, and as the weather cleared beautifully, the picnic was much enjoyed. A meeting of the executive of the Taranaki League was held. Very favorable reports of the work were received, and it was decided to makfe another forward movement. The services of Mr. Bruntnell (New South Wales), who visited New Plymouth in the No-License interest a few'years ago, are to be secured. Meantime. Mr. Herman Foston will continue his work as organiser.
