A good strung woman for the Old People's Home is advertised for. The fine household furniture to be sold by Messrs. Webster Bros. tUia afternoon on account of Mr. H. N. Bates is offered without reserve.
A final reminder is given of the meeting of St. -Mary's Church parishioners tins evening, at 8 o'clock, to discus's church enlargement proposals.
-Messrs. Webster Bros, will sell at their Omata yards to-morrow, 200 head of cattle, including 30 fifteen-months steers and eight pairs of working bullocks.
To-night the oratorical competition between members of the New Plymouth Catholic Club is to take place. The subjects (chosen from persons of note in history) lend themselves particularly to oratorical treatment.. The young men have studied their various subjects carefully, and some interesting orations will no doubt be delivered.
Quite "the" function of the week is
the lmzaar to be opened in the Theatre Royal this afternoon by the Mayor, the effort being in aid of the Queen-street Primitive Methodist Church. The ladies have been working assiduously for some months, and the result is evidenced in a splendid display of useful and fancy goods. _ Apart from this beautiful and low-priced needlework there will be afternoon tea, confectionery, ice cream, and dower stalls, and competitions amusements «f various kinds will "„eep the patrons interested and amused. The bazaar will lie open" from '2.30 to 5.30 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. to-day and tomorrow.
