AN UNFORTUNATE WOMAN.
Fer Preßs Association. .Wellington, Last Night. An ingudst was held yesterday on the body of the illegitimate chi.d of a young woman. Detective Hemp sai dthat from in formation received, he had gone to Arcadia Hotel on Friday. He' found the woman, a housemaid, in bed. She said the child was born through the night. She lost consciousness at the time, and on recovering found the child was dead. The medical evidence showed that the child had just commenced to (breathe, and had the mother received proper attention, no doubt the child's life would have been saved. Evidence was given by the girl's sister and her room-mate, neither of whom were aware of her condition. A verdict was returned that the child had breathed,' but had died during the process of birtk . _ • [ln eases of this kind affecting women, who have to bear the whole of the odium attaching to their unfortnate plight, we have; decided to suppress their names.]
