Kev. R. R Willinns, formerly of New Plymouth, and now of Dunedin, has resigned from the Methodist Ministry. Mr. Punic, of the Kllhani District High (School stall', has been appointed nrst assistant at the Wauganui District High School. Mr. Arthur Beverley, a well-known mathematician and astronomer, died at Dunediu yesterday in his 80th year. Deceased was born in Scotland, and came to Mew Zealand in ISS(J. He carried on business as a watchmaker and jeweller, but retired in ISUI and thereafter duvoted himself to scientific study and research. Deceased was the inventor of several scientific appliances, including the plancmeter, for which he was awarded the highest prize by the Royal Scotti.-di Society. He also added largely to Euclid, varying and simplifying many of its solutions.—Press wire.
