CATTLE. The following note is made in the cattle classes:-"Jn all cattle classes an animal only allowed to compete in one class, The clause appears ambiguous to some people. Perhaps it would be clearer it written "No animal shall compete in more than one class." All pedigree rattle must be quoted in the N.Z. Herd Books, or proved pedigree strains, f HI classes are provided in pedigree Shorthorns, Herefords, Polled AnV Ayrslurcs Jerseys, and Holsteins, wWi" tlie usual grade cattle sections. The Society is making a bigger bid for entries in the home industries section. The cookery classes have not been a very strong feature in recent years. 'There seems no reason why it should lag behind. The supper-rooms al public functions provide a far better display of the ladies' skill than the show benches. A visitor to Taranaki, if ii l t to judge our conks by the response ■o til" Soriciv's prize-list' offers, would hardly believe that we possess hundreds of veal top-notcliors. The mere males having made a hnce advance in the st„ck and produce sections, it is siin-erelv loped Ilia! the ladies will lake a bund and swell the entries in Hie ••homo indnsiries" section.
