Board when he expressed Hie | wish that Mr Tiseh would live for m my . years to look at this picture, which he hoped would remind him of pleasant , times in the hospital history. Personally, the chairman deeply regretted that Mr Tsich had severed his conneetion with an institution in whose work lie had taken such a warm interest. Mr Brown, speaking as one of the old ' members of the Board, stated that it had been a pleasure to sit under such u chairman as Mr Tisch, who had seemed to work for the hospital and the Koine as though it were a pleasure as well as a duty. Every member of the Board, and every member of the public, he thought, fully appreciated his labors.
Jlv ilcDmia],] nlao mldoj his tribute to the work of the late chairman. The
speaker hid been on the Board for from sixteen to seventeen yours, anil lie would not wish to have a hotter chairin m or a more energetic colleague. 'l'lie country as well as the town regretted Jlr Tiscll's relirenient. Air Tisch, in thanking the members for the present, said he was not vain enough to take as gospel truth all Ihe nice tilings (hat had lieen said of him, but he was glad that someone had spoken well of him now instead of leaving it until he had gone beyond hearing. The picture would serve to remind him of many pleasant associations. There had hcen few differences! on the Board, and these were never allowed to interfere with the members' good feeling towards one another. When he joined the Board in 1901, it was composed of fifteen members, hut since Hawora. and Stratford lias separated, the numbers had, of course, been jrod, uecd. Two of the fuembcrs of those days Messrs McDonald and Lepper (secretary) were still working in hospital affairs. Mr Lepper was chairman at the time, and Mr C. T. Mills secretary. When the latter resigned, Mr Lepper was elected secretary,
and 'lie had Itelvl that oilicc ever since with the greatest credit to himself and satisfaction to tlio Board and ratepayers.' lie (the speaker) was then elected chairman. There were some stirring times then. One of his first schemes was for the erection of the laundry and nurses' home, and he just pulled his | motion through by 7to 0. Great improvements had since boon made in various directions, and ho had expended large sums of money raided bv means ol balls, garden pirlios, and so forth, in ground improvements, iff Tiseh reviewed the work of the past six years, and said a good deal had been accomplished. He had taken a big interest and a pleasure in his work, feeling ], O had the hearty co-operation of "the Board and of the general public— the latter with one or two exceptions, hut they didn't matter much. He referred to the fact that the £4OOO overdraft at the time of his taking office had been changed into a credit balance despite a lowering of the hospital rate
