Over iifty per cent of tlio scarlet fever eases, five of the seven diphtheria cases, and two of the typhoid eases occurred in the undraincd portion of the town. The sanitary inspector informed a Wairarapa . Age reporter that he considers there is not the slightest doubt that parts of the borough badly require draining. With proper and effective draining, the number of infectious diseases would be greatly reduced. He also stated several cases could be traced to neighboring towns, more especially to AA r ellington.
