At a large gathering oi all branches of tlie telegrapu service in Dunedin last evening (says a Press wire) Mr. J. U. Ballard, late ollicer in charge at Diiiiedin, but now Inspector 01 Telegraph Oiliecs for Aew Zealand, was presented by Mr. Talbot, acting ollicer in charge, oil behalf of the stall, with a handsome gold albert and solid leather travellingbag, both suitably inscribed, on the occasion ol his leaving JJunedin. The meeting was very enthusiastic, and hearty checre were given for Mr, Ballard.
