FIRES.
Per Press Association. | Gisborne, Friday. The Tologa Bay Hotel of thirty rooms was destroyed by fire this morning. It was discovered in the kitchen, and is supposed to be due to a defective chimney. The house was full of boarders, and many lost their effects. Much of the stock in the bar was saved, but all the furniture except a piano was burned. John Murphy, senior, was slightly burned. The building was owned by George Walkins, of Auckland, and the licensee was Mr. J. R. Murphy. The insurances total about £3500.
Auckland, Last Night. Wick and Sons' woodware, planing, and tiiriiThg mills at Newmarket were totally destroyed by lire to-night. The firm bad an extensive-plant, and a large quantity of timber was stored on the premises.
