AN INTERESTING JUDGMENT.
Per Press Association. Wellington, Friday. The echoes of the great earthquakes of the mid-century were recalled by the action recently brought by the Crown to recover possession of two small strips of land on what was originally the Xe Aro foreshore, and now in possession of a sawmilling company. The hearing was lengthy, and Judge Cooper's decision took an hour and a quarter to deliver Earthquakes raised the shore several feet, and the water receded from what was then high-water mark. Judgment was that the land thus uncovered had never been included in any grant, and still belonged to the Crown.
