THE TARIKI ROAD.

Sir—Kindly allow me to mention in' your columns that although the Tariki road lias been called upon to pay the special rates that we've heard so much about, wis have a road that is almost impassable. C.lll it Le that Hie County Council are punishing us for not paying that special rate'; The mill owners have been carting timber right through the past winter. Every day 1 lieir fivehorse teams and waggons, with tile biggest loads they conl,l pull, have been ploughing up our roads The County Council should surely sees to this. We have tlirce members in this riding, and they arc not looking r.ftcr us u bit. Kindly publish this, in the interest of— A RATEPAYER. [We enquired yesterday at the County office, and found that this matter is receiving the attention of the chairman and cleric. The Council has power to prohibit any injurious-traffic, and to recover for damage done to roads by excessive loads.—Ed.]
