The pric' paid to suppliers had been a record h the hislory of the company, and no only had they been able to pay it bu had come out with a substantial bal anee after doing so During the pro vious year, for the first time in til company's business, competition ha< been met with in the pig market. Th inducements held out by their competi I ors had certainly been strong, hu ■ nevertheless the company had been ab!< is stated, to obtain record supplies. 1 the shareholders stuck to the concer: in a similar nuuiner this year it wa safe to predict an even greater success ife directed attention to the fact tha the wages had not been greatly increased by the bigger output, and stated tha a greater number of pigs could b dealt with at but little extra cost The greater the supply of pigs th cheaper the cost of producing the bacon The cost of running and manufuctur, from the time the pig came in to th factory until the cheque came bac for the bacon was 10s lid per pig, a r< cord low figure with this company. .11 concluded by reading a letter from M \V. Jlr Hopson, the auditor, remarked o the laxity of shareholders in rctumiii vouchers for payment. This gave th secretary a good deal of trouble. T\\ of these vouchers were still missing. For the election of three director four were nominated: Messrs (Jhai Dobson, I{. Kenny, John Davidson, llnrkijess, and ltobt. Stjevens. Th ballot resulted: Messrs J. Davidson 4i C. Dobson 34, i\V. llarkncss 30, R. St; vens 27, R. ivenny ID. The first tim were elected. Messrs llopson and 1. King were scrutineers. Jlr A. Hopson was re-elected audito: the fee being increased from five t seven guineas. The meeting unanimously adopted tli recommendation of the directors to pa the permanent stall a bonus of five pc cent on wages and salaries. Severs shareholders spoke in approval. In reply to Mr Eager, the chairmai said the directors would not establlsl a small goods establishment in lnglc wood until good premises in the j-i;:;; locality were procurable. The chairman assured the sharehold ors that the 'directors would lose no op portunity of extending the operation of tile company.
