RAMSAY MCDONALD'S SIWID STATEMENTS. 1 Melbourne, October 10. In the Federal llouae of tives the Treasurer, Sir W> Lyne, was asked a question regarding the speech of Mr Ramsay Mac Donald in London, fil in which he stated in deprecating terms that Australia desired to build her navv in order to fight the Japanese. The Treasurer was asked if it were part of °f the policy of the Government to build a 11 navy, and whether the Government con- w tempbted to fight with Japan. 1,1 The Treasurer repfied that the st«l,— ment was stupid. The navy would always be ready against the enemies of " Australia, but he hoped they \ro'.ilJ make no enemies.
