Mr 17. E. Hardy, of Eltha.ni, has been appointed Registrar oi Electors for the new electoral district of Egiuont. News was received yesterday of the sudden death of Mr Ernest JenkinSon, at Auckland. He was well-known in New Plymouth, being a son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Jcnkinson. He was lor some time in the rinks of the Tukapa footballers. Death ensued from a few days' illness, and the news was received locally with much regret. Mr. W. J. Boyce, late schoolmaster at Okato, was entertained by the residents U the district prior to leaving. Mr. Boyce, who had taken an active interest in local affairs, was the recipient of several presents. Mr. Wade, the new Premier of New South Wales, is a great athlete. He was a noted footballer, playing threequarters for Oxford University, and in the same place in the field in the English International team for four years. He, was equally brilliant on the runningtrack in distances over 100 yards, and as a rower, being tried in the Oxford first sixteen for the trial eights.

According to the New York American, Mr. McKim, the partner of the late Mr. Stanford White, who was shot by Harry Thaw, will shortly marry Mrs. Stanford White.
