The Economist says the average decline in prices of the principal c-o-n----modities on 22nd September, of .."> per cent, was manifested chiefly in quotations for raw material used in th:> staple industries. The previous excessive rise. particularly in coal, checked the demand and the decline was in nowise an unmixed evil, and should help to regulate the ebb of the industrial tide and mitigate the disturbances and distress. amending the pause in the manufacturing industries.
