Melbourne, September 27. The State Premier, Mr T. Rent, says the action of the Tlritish authorities in practically suspending the Newfoundland Constitution is not a m-itter which the States could interfere with. If any protest were to be made it should come from the Commonwealth. AUSTRALIA'S CHAMPION. London, September 26. Mr T. A. Coghlan, Agent-General for New South Wales, in a letter to the Daily News replying to that paper's recent attack on Australia says the annual increase of population, 2.5 per cent,, is certainly satisfactory.
