In the Supreme Court yesterday Sir Robert Stout, Chief Justice, upheld the Magistrate's decision in. favour of the ..New Zealand Times Company in the claim against the Taranald Petrolaum Oil Company for £4!) 5s for advertising. The question was whether the brokers appointed by the Petroleum Company had power to make a contract in the name of their principals for advertising the prospectus of the company It was sworn that it was the custom of the Wellington Stock Exchange that brokers should advertise the prospectus and use the name of the principals in so doing.
