SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.

The Board of School Commissioners held its adjourned meeting yesterday. There were present—Messrs Jas. Waie (chairman), !•'. Simpson (Commissioner of Crown Lands) and 11. l-'aull. On the motion of Messrs Simpson and Faull, it was decided to take steps (o ascertain the amount of the Board's li ibility in connection with the removal of earth from the Technical School site to the Board's property in Pendarvcs street. The Board discussed a letter fmn Messrs Weston and Weston, suggesting alterations in the Board's leasing conditions in respect to Mr Herbert Martin's application for renewal.—lt was decided to reply that the new lease now in use by the Board having been fully considered by every member of the Board, and the solicitor having reported that he saw no reason to make alterations, the Board declined to accede to the request; The nutter of Mr 'A. W. Rett's sublease was referred to tfae Board's solicitor, Mr Quilliam, and on Ins opinion being received, decided not to accede to the request of Messrs Malone, McVeagh r-nd Anderson, of Stratford.. '.rite 'Sard's solicitor reported the completion of new leases issued to S. Parker, ■T. T. Walsh, and Corney Bros.

Mr C. E. Robinson, StratforJ. county engineer, submitted plans of the proposed deviation of the Ohura road at Kahouri bridge. The Poard decided to offer no objection, provided that the Council can make arrangements with the Board's tenants. Mr a. V. Walker wrote asking the Board to bear half cost of the section recently taken up by liim.—Declined. The tenant of the section affected bv the proposed deviation of the Waitewhena road, strong!v objected to .'die deviation, as it would spoil his selected homested site.—The Poard decided that the Poard was unable to deal with tb" matter until informed what terms hare been made with the lessee. The treasurer reported a balance of €l.lOO 4s Id. and authority was given for payment of '£7oo to primary eduction and '£7s for secondary education.
