Though women have been refused admittance to the English Bar, notable proof continues occasionally to be given of the possibilities of their sex in the conduct of difficult legal actions, demanding care in the presentation of facts as well as argument (says the London correspondent of the Age). There has just been an unusually interesting example of feminine skill and tenacity in the King's Bench Division, where Miss Emily Howe, a litigant who conducted her own ease entirely unaided, lias argued down two of the ablest K.C.'s of the day-Sir Edward Carson and Mr I.n-h—and obtained a verdict of t'J'i aviin-t Mr Charles Itusscll, a -olieitor, :nnl -on of the late Lord liiis=ell.
