MRS. THAW.
LATEST XEWS OF A CAUSE CELEISRE. Interest is still maintained in jfhc beautiful wile of Thaw, who fatally shot the Xew York architect, and still lies ia gaol, awaiting his second trial. The latest news from New York says that Mrs Thaw promptly denied a story tint, weary of solitude, -he was going on tlie Xew Y'ork stage this autumn. The rumor brought together a big crowd of journalists at the gates of the Tombs prison, when she called there to pay her daily visit to her husband. She was alarmed.
"Whatever have I done now!" 6he asked. "Please, are you going back to the staged chorussed the Pressmen. "Absurd! Ridiculous:" Mrs Xesbit Thaw replied, with great vivacity. "IVe only taken one singing lesson, and that was because ray voice is getting weak. The doctor recommended it. You cau deny the story as strongly as you like," she said, and tripped away to Harry Thaw's cell.
Searcel a day passes when the demure little figure, quite plainly dressed for a Xew Y'ork lady, fails to call at the gloomy gaol, bringing with her table delicacies for her husband and packets of cigarettes. Harry Thaw looks forward to these visits, and has admitted that his wife has done more to cheer him up in prison than anything else He expects to be tried again in Xovember, and in the event of an acquittal says he will go on a tour round the world' with his wife.
Despite her long ideal, Mrs Xesbit Thaw looks as radiantly beautiful as in the old days, when she posed for classic pictures, ,'she is a trifle less fragile than during the trial, has a better color, and still retains her sweetly girlish looks. She occupies an apartment at an unpretentious Xew Y'ork hotel, with one lady friend as her sole companion.
