Mr. Quilliain wanted to know yesterday if Mr Fitzherbert, S.M., could take "judicial notice" of some whisky exhibits. In these days of complaint and grumbling, and the'sparse bestowal of approbation, the following letter from the Ratapiko school committee to the Education Board is distinctly refreshing. It reads: "I am directed to inform you that we are very proud of Mrs Wilson, school teacher at Ratapiko, and we congratulate her on her good teaching."
The Tarata School Committee complains that the steps to the school porch door have rotted away, and that the door requires a new handle, as when once shut it cannot be opened from the outside except by climbing through a window. Until repairs are effected the Board will be considering the interest's of the profession by employing a male teacher to perform these acrobatic feats.
