Mr T. A. Dcwson has recovered from his recent illness, and will be in New Plymouth to-day (Monday) to conduct his classes in wood-carving. Frank o"Grady, cadet in the local post office, has Iwen transferred to Wellington, and on Saturday afternoon lawas presented by the stall with a useful set of toilet requisites. Considering his age, this lad's career in the Department looks very promising. His eompnnions speak of him as a first-class telegraphist. Mr. Pearson Wakefield, late of Lepperton, died at the Hospital at 12.30 a.m. on Sunday. Ho had been failing in health for some months, but he struggled against his infirmities, and only after much pressure consented to go into the Hospital three weeks ago. Although he seemed to rally at first, he gradually got worse. He was a native of Bristol, England, and came to this country about 18(13, and joined the Military Settlers. Ho obtained a grant of land at Lcpperton, where he resided until about a year ago, when he removed to Vogeltown. By trade he was a cabinetmaker. Before leaving England he was connected with the volunteers, being a lieutenant. He has no relatives in the colony. He was a member of the Sir Donald McLean Lodge of Freemasons.
