THE COMMONWEALTH TARIFF.
m Melbourne, Sept. 20. In the House of Representatives, Mr Sinclair gave notice to move that the tariff, after revision by a committee, should be submitted to a referendum. The Federal Minister of Customs, Sir W. Lyne, promised to consider the request of a deputation of timber importers for alterations in the proposed duties, including the placing of New Zealand pine on the free list.
