LADIES' DAY AT WHITE & SONS'.

To-day is "ladies' day" at Messrs White and Sens' es.abllsbment, To-day the new spring and summer goods are shown fir the first time, ft is aline array. AH llio la,est novelties and everything in tiie height of fashion are shown in beautiful profusion. The new and commodious showroom gives greater effect to Ihc display. It is the first new season's show held in the new premnes, and ttie firm has evidently bought with a view to making record sales.

The dominant feature of the millinery is the "bell," or "cloche" shape, in some! hslances of which it is difficult to -ay where the brim and the crown begin and end. This shape is to be worn so as to allow the front hair to be well in sight, though, of course, this may be varied. Tuscan straws and green straws arc viTy pivliy. Urecn is the most fashionable trimming, and lilac is also tu l)c much worn. This is a year of' ribbons, chine ribbons holding a stron« lead. These arc chiefly in pale lilac, mauve, sky and pink. This is "the" latest, trimmed with lace ami insertion on both blouse and skirl, in full and fussy stylos, throe-quarter length sleeves, and flill frills and ruchiugs on the skirt. These robes are slocked in printed muslin, while muslin, black and white, and colored prints! ginghams, etc., and tweed lustre ami serge coals and skirts arc shown. Readymade skirts are here in great variety, in tweeds, cloth, cashmere, voile and lustre.

Mothers -lmnlrl see tin- display in the children's department—silk dresses, hats ami bounds, pinafores, overalls, ami everything now and smart. I In dross goods, the predominant colors are given, myrtles, olives, reseda;:, wims. purples, browns (mid and dark shades'). Owing in the wot season at IToine these were purchased at remarkably low rates. Another especial feature is the magnificent range of Jap. silk blouses in newest styles and excellent quality, muslin blouses, pretty delaines, and print shirt blimses. in great variety.
