Every progressive dairy fanner who desires information on this all-important matter should make an effort to be present. As each season comes round there is always a considerable amount of mortality in dairy cattle, and it is largely owing to the dairyman's lack of knowledge and treatment that so many goods cows and heifers succumb. At this season of the year many of the herds are in low condition. It is the calving time, and the cows are in need of judicious care. There is hardly a herd thai, escapes mortality every season. Good dairy cows cost long prices, and the owner finds at the end of the season that his profits are considerably decreased through having to allow for the loss of one or more cows. If this mortality can be stayed (and we are sure it can) by the farmer possessing the-knowledge of how to treat affected animals, then it is of vital importance that every opportunity should be availed of to secure the rMit information. The lecture on Thursday evening affords an opportunity that all interested should take advantage of. The Agricultural Society are deserving of the I hanks of local farmers for havin" secured Mr Ojlrulh at so opportune a tune. All that farmers are asked to do is l» attend m force, and thus show appreciation of the Society's action The Society's annual horse parade will be li"ld on Saturday next, in the section adjoining YYest's stables, E s „, o „t street. YYe understand that so far the entries are good. Some excellent horses are to be paraded. Last year's parade was a most successful one, and as there are a miniher of new importations to the i islrict this year, the various types should bo well represented '
