TARANAKI AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
The committee of the above met last night, Mr. Ambury in the chair, and there was a full attendance. It was decided that Mr. Gilruth's lecture on Thursday evening, 20th inst., in the Town Hall, should commence at 7.30 o'clock. The secretary was instructed to advertise the annual show as usual. Tenders for band music are to be asked for, also supply of medals for the ensuing vea; A small sub-committee was set up to make arrangements for the catering, •\nd it was unanimously decided to hold the dinner as usual on the night of the first day's show. Special train arrangements are to be asked for. especially for school children and exhibitors of stock. A Grounds Committee was set up to arrange the grounds for the ensuing show. Eight new members were proposed, and Messrs. S. Teed, J. Crockett, and A. McMaster were elected to the committee. The society decided to guarantee any loss which may arise in connection with an experimental box of butter put down in poplar timber. This suggestion was made by Mr. Qliff, and should it be proved that this timber is suitable for butter-boxes, a large held will be opened up for the trade. This class of timber can be brought to maturity easily in twenty years. The schedule for the coming show was passed, and judges appointed for the various classes.
