A noted fighting warrior named Kereopa died suddenly at Waitotara on Monday night. A big tangi is in progress. Mr. J. E. Page, who was Town Clerk of Wellington until about live years ago, died on Tuesday afternoon at Wellington after an illness of a fortnight's duration. He arrived from England in ISi'O and entered the Corporation service soon after reaching Wellington. At the time of his death he w;V, secretary io the Seddon Memorial Committee, secretary of the Wellington Fire Board, and treasurer of the Benevolent Trustees. Professor MacLaurin, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Victoria College, has resigned to take the position of Professor of Mathematical Physics at Columbia University, New York. He desires to be relieved of his duties here at the end of this term. A meeting of the Council will probably be held almost immediately to consider the position (says a Press Association telegram from Wellington).
