SUBSIDENCE AT WAIHI MINES.

Per Press Association. Waihi, Tuesday. Some alarm was experienced in the Waihi mine owing to a subsidence in the surface between No. 1 and No. 2 shafts. The subsidence is probably due to phenomenally heavy rainfall. Careful investigation showed that the surface had sunk a few inches, squeezing in the old workings, but not extending to the working levels. The men who were knocked off work for the time resume to-day. Mr. Barry states that only n'ui workings are affected, and that the iiiter.'-iption will not affect the moiiihly oul;.tit.
