At a committee meeting of the Auckland Rugby Union last nignt Mr. Murray, manager of the touring team, made a verbal report dealing with the allegations of rough play by the team in Christchurch and Dunedin. The committee decided to go fully into the matter on Wednesday, when the manager of the team will present his statement and members of the team will be invited to give evidence. It is stated that the manager's report will be a refutation of the charges made in the Southern papers. OTAGO v. SOUTHLAND. Per Press Association. Dunedin, Saturday. The return football match Otago t. Southland was played to-day, resulting in a win for the former by 11 points to nil. The weather wii* unsettled, two h"avy showers falling during the progress' of the game. The ground was slippery, ami the ball dillieult to handle 1 in consequence. Otago had the best of the game almost throughout,' and the visitors seldom looked like scoring. The (itago forwards played a line game, their fast following ;ip giving their opponents no end of trouble. The Southland backs evidently did not appreciate the wet ground and greasy ball, and their fielding was very erratic. For Otago Dwyer scored two tries, and Fitzpatrick one, the la.it one being converted by Low. • AUCKLAND v. WANGANUI. AUCKLAND RETALXS THE SHIELD. Per Press Association. Auckland, Saturday Night. The intorprdVincial football match Auckland v. Wanganui was played here this afternoon in line weather, and in the presence of about six thousand people. The game was fast and interesting throughout, but Auckland retains the Ranfurly Shield by winning by C points (two tries) to 5 points (a converted try). ■■■ ! ; Auckland had rather the best of the game, and did most of the attacking. Only eight of the team that went South played for Auckland. No rough play was exhibited, though the game was keenly contested. The Auckland juniors defeated Otaliuhu representatives in a curtain-raiser match by 17 points to nil. The season concludes next Saturday, when Auckland meets Tnrnnaki. WELLINGTON v. CANTERBURY.
