PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD.
The monthly mooting was held at Rahotu on Wednesday. Present: Messrs J. Young, P. Willeox, M. Deegaii, W. Revell, J. C. O'Rorke. Iu the absence of the chairman Air Young was voted to the chair. The minutes of the last ,neetin» were read and confirmed. " The foreman's- report was read and dealt with.
T. E. Julian, jun., made a claim against the Board for £B, (or the loss of a cow which had fallen over a cliff
and died, as the result of a pit beni* made for gravel. The foreman in his report, said that Mr Julian had agreed to fence in the pit, but had not don; so. When Mr Julian inforui-.'d Mr I'orteoua that he could not do it, he (Mr Porteous) had the pit fenced in, i,j which time the cov,- had ;;ono over.— Resolved that the Board do.-s not consider it is liable for the damage don ■ Ihaia road: Resolved that" £2O 'be spent on this road, if the settlers will give the equivalent in labor, metal, ji money. Tipoka road: It was decided that £2! bo spent in repairs on this i\,ad. Cement: Resolved that two tons ol Wilson's cement be obtained, to be d" livered at Opunake port. Ranger: S. C. Rate: Mr Willcox gave notice of motion to make a y 2 d rate. Arawliata road: Mr. Deegan complained about the water from a drain doing damage-Resolved that 'rom six to seven chains of drain be made on condition that Mr Deegan pay half cost and keep same open; also that a drain on Mr ORorke's property be cleaned
Theodolite: The foreman said he wanted a theodolite, as the machine ha had for laying off work was not a-cu rate.-Resolvcd that the clerk make enquiries for a second-liand one. The usual accounts were passed for payment.
