GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING

Per Press Association. Napier, Last Night. The New Zealand Golf Club's championship meeting was continued to-day, when there was a fairly heavy and very cold wind blowing, which greatly interfered with play. An error was made yesterday in crediting MacLaren, the professional player, with winning the Open Championship. Arthur Duncan won the Hawkes Bay Amateur Championship and the Opeu Championship of New Zealand. MacLaren, as the best scorer amongst the professionals, takes the leading prize of £25 allotted to men, D. Hood taking second money,

To-day the fourth and fifth rounds of the New Zealand Amateur Championship were played, H. D. Bamford, A. Duncan, Major Gordon, W. Handyside W. E. Eeid, 11. C. Smith, K. Duncani and 11. B. Lusk being the winners in the fourth round, and H. D. Bamford, 11. B. Lusk, A. Duncan, and H. C. Smith in the fifth round. The semi-final will be played to-morrow, and the final on Monday.

A Bogey Handicap was played this afternoon, and was wou by Arthur Duncan, H. C. Smith being second and G M. Morris third.

The New Zealand Amateur Championship is looked upon as a foregone conclusion for Arthur Duncan, and H. B. Lusk is regarded as the most likely to act as runner-up.
