NATAL LAND TAX.
Received Sept. 13, 8.14 p.m. London, September 12. The Durban Assembly read a second time a Land Bill taxing unimproved values a penny in the pound. Y.M.C.A. CAMPAIGN. DUNEDIN ESTABLISHES A RECORD.
Per Press Association. Dnnedin. Last Night. The campaign having for its object the raising of £17,000 in fourteen d'avs for the Y.M.CA. building concluded tonight. The promoters did not succeed in accomplishing their object, but at the same time the canvass has been remark-1 ably successful, more than £15,000 having been secured. The organisers state that Dunedin has easily established a record for giving in the Southern Tlemi--pherc. the results more than fulfilling expectations. The previous record was ii-'M by Wellington, where £1(1,000 was donated in twenty-one days. One team of young iin-ii. runiprisimt ten members, collected fll2(i. which is a record for young men's work. Messrs. Lyman, Pierce, and Gillanders, who organised and conducted the campaign, leave for Christchureh to-morrow, where a similar campaign is to be instituted.
