"MOTHER GOOSE."
alius ilic Auckland Herald on Mr. J. C. Williamson's pantomime to be seen here on Monday next:—"lt is a glittering spectacle of gold and flowers, of rainbow colors, and sparkling lights. Animated, gay, replete with comic incidents, its atmosphere scintillating with bright melodies and haunting tunes, the whole production swirls and eddies along , like some swift-running river of pleasure. The onlooker is taken by the hand, as it were, by a fairy godmother, ms eyes are blinded, and, hey presto, he is plunged pell-mell into Gooselaud. He sees sweet, dainty children dance and Hears ihcin sing. In a trice the scene is changed, and droll happenings commence, lie roars with a very ague of aughtcr, and then is soothed to languor by a _ drowsy air, delivered by some [ elmrniing voice. Only a lull this proves, tor scarcely have the last strains of the enticing melody faded than the air is once more charged with comedy. And ■so the action progresses. There are graeeiul ballets to admire, radiant coslimics to feast the eyes upon, weird and h onderlul bird and animal shapes whereat to smile, and sometimes laugh to distraction, and every now and then the 'onnxting line or two of rhymed dia»gi»o that holds the story together to !>lcn to. Ihe brain is left in a whirl _' leaving the theatre, inc. glimpses of lairylaml and the land of toys have had their cll'eet though, and cherished memories of childhood have been reawakened."
