A STRAY DOG TROUBLE.

The dog-tax collector wrote an explanation to the Borough Council last night regarding tlie» impounding of a flog that had been wandering about and making himself a nuisance. He also asked for some improvements at the dog pound to facilitate the identification of dogs by their owners. This matter arose out of the "arrest" of a ratepayer's poodle by a council's officer, and the consequent charge of 7s for his "keep" during incarceration. The kuri had a collar on, but the brass label had been torn off, probably in a fight, so that the dog-catcher was unable to locate the owner. The owner claimed a ' refund of the sustenance fees, and the ' council agreed to the request. It was also decided to make the suggested improvements. The council talked dog, ; and pet dog, and lost dog/ and stray dog, and all other sorts of dog for nearly half an hour before arriving at this ' decision.
