At the Polrce Court this morning Mr btout counsel for Martin Campbell, applied for a rehearing of the case in winch his client was fined £2 for assistf& ?, tlle J* of li ? uor in the Awarua ref "1" M!| g i3 trate, Mr. McCarthy, The facts are that Frank Coutts was convicted by the Magistrate for selling drink without a license, and on appeal to the Supreme Court the conviction was quashal. Campbell, for assisting Contts, did noi appeal, but paid the tine, and counsel held that, the principal offence not having been proved, the Magistrate should grant the rehearing, the Magistrate held otherwise.
