AMBURY BROS.' SPRING DISPLAY. Messrs Anibury Bros.' annual Bering display is an event in the ladies' realm looked forward to with all-absorbing anticipation, and the display to be shown this morning and for the ensuing week is the brightest and best ever exhibited in the establishment. To attempt to describe the would result in failure, so charming is the display, so beautifully /bright yet harmonious the colors. The large room upstairs is a fascinating show of magnificent spring and summer headwear, in perfect harmony with the brightness of Nature's blossom, berry and fruit seasons. The hats and bonnets—nearly 500 in number—are all English models anil Paris creations, all original in design, and no two alike. Every tint and shade soems to be represented, some of tic choicest being resiilas, Copenhagen blue, heliotrope, black, white, greys, wedgewood blue, view rose—in fact, every one shown is of choice design and beautiful in tint. The trimmings are new in design and most effective. All ages are catoral! for, from the modest maid of 10 to the venerable grandma. Flowers, fruits, berries, grasses, foliage representing .Nature's choicest productions, ostrich feathers dressed like a fox's /orush in a rarely of shades. All these and many more trimmings are daintilyarrayed on artificial arches. Ladies will have a great time in this department, and their greatest difficulty will be to make a choice from the multitude of beautiful hats showing. The variety of imtrinuned straws is also large, in cream and burnt straws, etc. In addition to the millinery there are lovclv articles in capes, coatees, and mantles, daintv ladies' Kaiapoi costumes in summer tints, novelties in silk and mohair dust /coats. Skirts are in great array in cnfdlesß colors, including a large number ot new frilled washing skirts, and walking skirts in tweed, voile, cashmere, etc ' then there aro the ready-to-wear linen , washing costumes, striped golf and tennis costumes in a varietv of styles The new blouses are exceptionally choice, ami are in cream embroidered silk, voile white embroidered muslin, etc. The departments downstairs are fully stocked with the latest and best. The sunshades are in every conceivable color
to match the exquisite millinery, and no „ two are ot the s-,,m0 tint. The latest ■n ladies' silk and lace neckwear make a , charming display, and there are scores to choose from. A very pretty range 1 of belts m silk, leather and elastic, to ' match, the various sh-ides of dress mat- ? oral, another attraction which will be , eagerly sought out by the ladies. There 1' is also to be seen a very daintv lot of , ntternoon tea and supper tablecloths, , hand-embroidered in Irish linen and t, worked in Teneriffe hnmlwork. Of ~ curtains the designs in frilled Madras net and muslins are 'distinctlv effective' ,' 'Hie men's departments have "in no wav v I been neglected, and the latest in stnw ,' | hats, neckwear, shirts, collars, etc., may , be seen in great varietv. Messrs.
