FITZROY BOWLING CLUB.
; MIST ANNUAL SOCIAL. The first annual social of the Htzroy Bowling Club last, nigkt in the Theatre | l{o>al was an unqualilied success. Nu- . thing was wauling. The miserably wet J weather of the past week unexpectedly cleared late iu the afternoon, and a . large attendance was tlio result. The ballroom was profusely decorated with Hays and streamers, and the stage, arranged as a drawing-room, was realiy pietty, mirrors and spring Jlowers being used in the ornamentation. On the plati'urm over the orchestral well some genius had painted and laid out a miniature tennis court and bowling green, all complete, whilst the Blage-front itself bore the various emblems of the two games, Ihe iloor could hardly have been better, and no one could find the slightest fault with the music supplied by Mrs. George's orchestra. Messrs. E. Humphries, A. Humphries, and C. 31. eston were obliging and courteous directors of ceremonies. The ladies are to be complimented on the excellence of the supper provided and the completeness of -the arrangements generally. Ihe supper-room decorations were the work of Mrs. E. Whittle and Mrs. Hawkins, and Misses Cattley and Ede decorated the stage. The miniature green and court were the work of Messrs. Lints and Cottier. Mr. E. A. Ede, the secretary, is deserving of all credit for Ins work, and the various committees all had their arrangements right up to the mark. The ladies' committee comprised Mesdames 11. Dcmpsoy (president), S. Hill, A. Lealand, P. Lealand, Hickman, Hawkins, M. Ramson, Jackson, Grant, F, CJ. Griffiths, 11. R. Cattlev, Erie, A. Avery,.E. Whittle, C. P. Foofx>, and T. 0. Sole, Misses Hill, Oattley, Ede, and Scarle. The foilowing were on the club's committee:— -Messrs. 11. Dempsey (president), E. A. td.! (secretary), A. Lealand, P. LcaF. C. Griffiths, G. Griffiths, A. Avery, L. Steele, W. Lints, Mellroy, Cottier, M. Ramson, and L. Jackson. As before stated, the social was very successful, and habitues of the ballroom dubbed it by far the most enjoyable ot the season. The club is to be congratulated ou its initial effort, 1
