IHB STATE'S BALANCE-SHEET. Received 6th, 12.33 ajn. Adelaide, Sept. 5. She Budget was delivered to-nigtit 3he Treasure* estimates to have a ne- ~ jlit balance on June 30th next of i £48,424. The estimates revenue for the financial year is £3,135,329, and the basis of calculation is a nine bushels harvest, against 11 bushels harvested last year. 'Ae prospects for the coming year are particularly good. The cutting up of large estates for closer settlement had proved exceedingly profitable, and railway revenue kid in-
creased £225,000 compared with the previous year. The net income was equal 6.15 per cent of the capital cast. Ihe Government would reintroduce :ae progressive land tax, and intended to spend £IOO,OOO on works out of rerenue. During the year ending Jure next, the Treasurer estimated he would! hare paid in redemption of loans, or in construction works out of revenu", ;iic mm of £980,000, exclusive of tile .urplus which was expected at th it date. A prominent feature of the budget was! the establishment of a minimum w.ige] of 7s per day for all manifel laborers In the employ of the State. The Tr»a•urer hoped private firms would follow this example.
