THE ROTORUA RAILWAY ACCIDENT.
Per Press Association. Auckland, Last Night The inquiry concerning the Rotorua railway accident was concluded before District Judge Kettle to-day. Mr. Prendergast, who appeared for the department, suggested that the most probable cause of the accident was that the Westinghouse brake was not properly applied on the incline. Mr, Baume, on behalf of the men, considered the most reasonable explanation was that the gear had been interfered with by Maoris at Ngatira, it having been stated in evidence that ,50111 c Maori children had turned on one of the cocks. Mr. Kettle said he would forward his report to the Minister.
