CONDENSED MILK.

THE NEW ZEALAND INDUSTRY. The preserved milk industry is now on a thoroughly good footing in this! country, says Mr Bell, managing director of Murray and Co., Ltd., of Lnderwood, Invercargill, and the preferential tariff is likely to improve the positi-m. The industry was established about 12 years ago, and for a number of years it had a hard fight with the well-estab-lised foreign brands*' Owing to the good quality of the Murray product it now holds a commanding position in the colony, and is fast becoming popular in the Commonwealth. The Murray Company is a purely colonial venture and has been developed entirely by colonial capital. It, therefore, specially appeals to the local consumers. One'eireet of the establishment of the industry his been the education of farmers in Die Underwood district in the proper handling of the delicate raw material, and suppliers to the company have now ben made to realise that it is essential to! the successful conduct of the condens-d milk business that the milk should b« delivered in an absolutely sound condition. The company has expended about £30,000 in establishing its business and is now receiving the loyal support of the farmers to whom it is catering.
