BOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS.
Per Press Association. Auckland", Lust night. The New Zealand amateur boxing championships were opened this evening in the presence of a largo attendance, and under the auspices of the Northern Association. Fine exhibitions of boxing were given. Resultß: Light-weight: K. ,Mayze (Christehurch) defeated G. McCarty (Wellington), both 7.0; -A. 3. Blewden (Auckland), 0.12, defeated J. Newall (Invercargill), 10.0. Middleweight: J. Gilmour (Christehurch), 11.1, defeated H. Fletcher (Wellington), 10.8. Heavy-weight: H. Sandow (Wellington), 13.0, defeated J. McConnell (Auckland),, 13.5; and the Australasian champion, J. Lloyd, of Canterbury, 12.0, defeated .1.. R. Hunter (Auckland), 12.10. The finals. will be decided on Saturday night.
