Perth, August 29. A public meeting passed a resolution*, of protest against the tariff/ and asked all members of the Federal Parliament representing West Australia to resign. MR HUGHES' INTENTIONS. A CANADIAN REQUEST. Melbourne, August 29. In the tariff debate Mr Hughes stated that he -would vote to alter (fabolish) all duties on food and the necessaries of • life. The representative of a Canadian firm has asked Sir W. Lyne to suspend the new tariff for three months as far na Canada is concerned. Sir W. Lyne refused.
