RE-ORGANISATION SCHEME.

London, August 26. Lord Elgin will shortly forward to

the Governors of the colonies a despatch iully explaining the reorganisation of the Colonial Olhce.

Lord Elgin, Secretary of State for the Colonies, in a reply to the contention of the Times that the Secretariat of the Imperial Conference should be separata from the Colonial Office, explains that Mr Lucas, as head of the Dominion Department, and Mr Just, as Secretary of the Imperial Conference, will naturally also work in connection with the same department.

THE CONNECTION WITH THE IMPERIAL CONFERENCE.

Received 27th, 11.12 p.m. London, August V. In the House of Commons, Mr Winston Churchill, replying to the Hon. A. Lyttelton regarding the proposed reformß of the Colonial Office, said the Secretaryship of the Imperial Conference would be associated with the Dominion Department of the Colonial Office. It would be an extra feature of that Department, and would be entrusted with the duty of preserving the link between the Conference and the Office.
