THE PIAKO SWAMP.
Per Press Association. Wellington, August 27. Mr Breaknell, drainage engineer, who has previously undertaken work for tuo Government, has been appointed to take charge of the extensive drainage scheme on the Plako Swamp, in the Waika'i district, where the Government has control of some 48,000 acres. Mr McNao, Minister of Lands and Agriculture, believes the Fiako Swamp will become tka centre of the ilax industry of the colon/.
