At the Supreme Court to-day, Patrick Francis Brosnahan and Alfred Crossey, chsVgcd with having conspired by deceit to defraud George Martin, James Elliott, Lionel Wallis, and Walter Edward Pollett, of certain sums of money, were found not guilty. Dunedin, August 22. The Supreme Court was occupied nil i day with the case against Tlios. Miller, 'charged with arson. Eighteen witnesses were called for the Crown, and tho <!efence was then entered upon. Accused, in evidence, gave an emphatic denial to this statement that he had purchased phosphorus at a chemist's shop at any time. The case was unfinished when the Court rose. Invercargill, August 22. The list of cases for the criminal sittings of the Supreme Court eommeuc-' ing on Tuesday is very light. Frank | Coutts and Martin Campbell will bol with attempting to dissuade a! witness from giving evidenco in a lieen-j sing case, and Stanley Gill with committing perjury in an affiliation case.
