ALLEGED EXTENSIVE THEFTS.

Per Press Association. Dimedin, August 21. This morning detectives arrested a young married man named, W. P. Harrington, employed as assistant at tho Mutual Stores, on a charge of stealing a large and miscellaneous quantity of goods supposed to be valued at over £IOO. The detective office presented the appearance of a drapery shop this afternoon, when the detectives wero engaged for some hours sorting out drapery material alleged to have been stolen. The articles consist of almost everything in the drapery line. The detectives had to engage an express, to cart the stuff away. When charged .with the offence, accused said the articles had been purchased at sales in town, and that some of them had been brought from Christchurch, where he was formerly living,
